Reliant Seeks Authority to Serve Residential Customers in Maryland

April 4, 2011
Email This Story

Reliant Energy has applied for an amendment to its Maryland electric supplier license in order to serve mass market customers.

A copy of the application was not immediately available.

The requested amendment was styled on the PSC's docketing system as a "request" to serve, "residential and small commercial customers," although the latter part of the "request" is essentially a notification of an update to Reliant's stated marketing plans contained in the original application, rather than a formal request, as there is no distinction in the size of commercial customers in the Maryland supplier application.

Reliant is currently licensed in Maryland to serve commercial and industrial customers and would not need a license amendment to serve small commercial customers (though would need to update the PSC on any material changes to any plans stated in its original application).

As only reported by Matters, Reliant recently sought authority from the Pennsylvania PUC to serve residential and small commercial customers (see 3/25).
