N.H. PUC Approves Default Service Rates for Large and Small Customers

March 22, 2011

The New Hampshire PUC approved default service procurements at Unitil Energy Systems, Inc. which will establish commercial and industrial (G1) rates for the three-month period beginning May 1, 2011, and, when combined with prior procurements, the rate for small commercial and residential (non-G1) customers for the six month period beginning May 1, 2011.

Approved G1 default service rates are as follows for May 1, 2011 through July 31, 2011 ($/kWh):

                                              May                   June                  July
Base Supply                     $0.06814         $0.06207        $0.06370
RPS                                   $0.00293          $0.00293        $0.00293
Total Default Service      $0.07107          $0.06500        $0.06663

DTE Energy Trading, Inc. will supply 100% of G1 default service supplies for the three-month period beginning May 1, 2011

For non-G1 customers, Unitil procured one-quarter of supplies for the period May 1, 2011 through April 30, 2013.  Blended with current supplies, the procurement results in a non-G1 base supply charge of $0.07094 per kWh for the period May 1, 2011 through October 31, 2011.  The RPS charge for this period is $0.00180 per kWh, resulting in a total default service rate for non-G1 customers of $0.07274 per kWh for the period May 1, 2011 through October 31, 2011.

Constellation Energy Commodities Group won the 25% of non-G1 default service supply for the period May 1, 2011 through April 30, 2013 which was available in the procurement.
