March 11, 2011
Texpo Energy has launched an affinity program with Texas Southern University, branded the TSU Tiger Power Plan, under which Texpo will make a donation to Texas Southern University Athletics and its programs for each kilowatt-hour consumed by a participating customer.
The program is open to both residential and commercial customers, with no limits on the amount of the total annual donation per customer. TSU has more than 100,000 alumni, faculty and staff throughout the State of Texas.
Texas Southern University and Texpo Energy plan to market the program to TSU alumni and at athletic events. As part of a multi-year agreement, Texpo Energy is able to advertise TSU Tiger Power Plans at athletic and TSU sponsored events, and is able to promote TSU Tiger Power Plans to TSU Alumni in the State of Texas through a cooperative effort with the University. The value of the program provides the opportunity to generate over $1 million per year for the University and upwards of $18 million during the lifetime of the agreement.
Available products include 12, 18, and 24 month fixed rates, each of which includes a $175 early termination fee. All plans are e-plans whose pricing assumes a 5 mills/kWh discount for recurring automatic withdrawal for payments. The plans are priced as including a base volumetric charge plus a monthly fee of $7.95 if monthly usage is less than 1,000 kWh.
Specific all-in average rates by service area, as well as base volumetric charges, can be found on the program's dedicated website: www.tsutigerpower.com. Average pricing disclosures quoted outside of the Electricity Facts Label are done on the basis of 2,000 kWh monthly usage.
Texpo Energy said that it provides retail electricity services to tens of thousands of Texans.
