ComEd Reports 2,800 Residential Customers on POR in First Month
Commonwealth Edison
reported that some 3,200 customers were served under its Purchase of Receivables
program through roughly the first month, about 2,800 of which were new residential
customers. ComEd said that it has also informally received notice from retail suppliers
of their intentions to enroll "thousands" of additional customers onto POR in the
coming months. "The currently effective discount rate structure is clearly working
to include both PORCB usage and entrance of [retail suppliers] into the heretofore
untapped residential market," ComEd said in comments to the Illinois Commerce Commission
asking that the status quo for the POR program be maintained until the Commission
further clarifies a recent amendatory order on POR which has throw the POR discount
rate calculation into chaos (see 2/16).
