Viridian Energy to Launch ConEd Service Feb. 14, Reports Volumes in Sustainability

Viridian Energy will begin offering electric service in New York on February 14, the company confirmed yesterday, as it issued a sustainability report.
Matters had first reported that Viridian was planning on a first quarter 2011 entry for New York (12/6).
Initially, Viridian's New York marketing will be limited to electric service at Consolidated Edison.

Viridian's sustainability report discloses that it has served 516,029 MWh from when it started serving load in September 2009 through December 17, 2010. All of Viridian's products include a minimum of 20% renewable content (combining any state mandate with voluntary purchases), and the report details Viridian's REC purchases for these products as well as its 100% renewable offerings.
The report details that Viridian served 20,250 MWh in Connecticut in the calendar year 2009. Viridian began serving Connecticut load in September 2009.
Viridian served 895 MWh in Pennsylvania for the renewable compliance year June 1,
2009 through May 31, 2010. Viridian launched marketing at PPL, its only service
area for the 2009-
Load data for Maryland and New Jersey, Viridian's two other currently active markets, was not available since Viridian only entered these markets during the state's current compliance years, which had not yet been completed as of the December 17 drafting date for the report.
