Direct Marketer 5Linx Enterprises Expanding to Energy

5Linx Enterprises, Inc., a direct/multi-level marketing company that offers various telecom and other services, is expanding its product suite to include competitive electricity and natural gas sales, with a rollout sometime this month.
Initial markets for 5Linx Energy include California, Texas, Maryland and New York, all of which except Maryland do not require a broker license so service could start at any time.
While it does not appear 5Linx has yet filed a Maryland broker application, from a cursory review of recent filings, 5Linx has applied for a District of Columbia electric broker license to serve residential customers only.
Representatives signing up with 5Linx can sell a suite of products including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone service, mobile phone service, high speed internet, satellite television, and home security and identify theft products.
