Email This Story
January 17, 2011
In excess of 96,000 residential electric customers at PECO have submitted a switch to an alternative supplier, the utility confirmed Friday.
The total (and all totals in this story) include pending enrollments as well as executed switches. As only noted in Matters, the majority of switches had not been executed as of January 1, 2011 and were not recorded in the recent Office of Consumer Advocate statistics (1/10).
Small commercial migration among PECO electric customers is 49,000 customers, and large commercial migration is 2,000 customers.
Total migration of electric customers at PECO is nearly 148,000, or just under 10% of accounts. Some 40% of electric load at PECO is competitively served.
For comparison, executed and pending residential switches at PPL Electric as of January 16, 2010 (e.g. about two weeks after the end of rate caps in that territory) was 205,000 customers, with total migration standing at 247,000 customers.
