Nordic Energy Services Seeks to Serve All Illinois Electric Customers, Expand to
Additional Territories
Nordic Energy Services, LLC applied at the Illinois Commerce
Commission to amend its alternative retail electric supplier license to serve all
customer classes, serve additional territories, and provide single-billing services.
A copy of the application was not immediately available. However, Nordic Energy
Services' current license is limited to non-residential customers with annual usage
in excess of 15,000 kWh at ComEd, so the additional territory under the application
would presumably include, at least, Ameren.
Kansas Energy Seeks Ohio Gas License
Kansas Energy, LLC applied for an Ohio natural
gas supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers,
in all service areas. Kansas Energy buys and sells physical gas in all producing
regions of the United States, moving on average 250,000 - 350,000 MCF per day. Since
2002, Kansas Energy LLC has operated in wholesale marketing & trading, serving natural
gas producers, independent power producers, utilities, industrial users, and other
energy wholesalers. Among those leading Kansas Energy's expansion into retail choice
is Randy Bitsky, who joined Kansas Energy as Vice President of Origination earlier
this year after several years in supply and similar roles at Constellation Energy
Group, where Bitsky worked in the Ohio, Maryland, California, and Texas choice markets.
Additionally, Jay Jordan will serve as a senior trader for Kansas Energy. Jordan
was most recently a trader at Integrys Energy Services.
Maine PUC Grants Freedom Energy Logistics Electric Supplier License Limited to BHE
Pilot
The Maine PUC granted Freedom Energy Logistics, LLC a competitive electricity
provider license limited to serving residential customers as part of the Bangor Hydro-Electric
hourly priced rate trial, should Freedom Energy Logistics be selected as a supplier
for the trial (see 5/18). The PUC granted Freedom Energy Logistics' request for
reduced security in the amount of $14,700, versus the standard $100,000, on the condition
that the license is limited to the customers served under the BHE rate trial (which
is to be 50 customers per supplier). The $14,700 figure represents 10% of Freedom
Energy Logistics' expected revenue from 50 residential customers under the six-month
trial, which would be the full extent of its annual revenue as a Maine retail supplier.
Ameresco Files for Broker Licenses in Nearly a Dozen States
Ameresco, Inc. has filed
broker applications to serve non-residential customers in the District of Columbia
(electric and gas), Maryland (electric and gas), Illinois (electric), and Ohio (electric).
Ameresco said that it is also in the process of becoming licensed in New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Delaware, and previously received
its Maine electric broker license and registered as a New Hampshire electric and
gas aggregator (12/15). Ameresco, which offers various energy management and infrastructure
services to end users, said that it is moving towards a supplier paid fee business
model for its procurement consulting.
