Rosenthal Energy Advisors Seeks Expedited Review of Pa. Broker Application
Rosenthal Energy Advisors, Inc. petitioned the Pennsylvania PUC to expedite the review of its electric broker application (11/24), objecting to a Secretarial letter which has extended the period for consideration of the license beyond the 45-day window provided for in the Pennsylvania code.  The extension of the 45-day window is typically standard in reviewing both supplier and broker applications, but has also been waived by the PUC previously, especially as applicants were racing to begin service last year prior to the expiration of rate caps at PPL.  "The deregulation of electricity in [the] PECO territory begins January 1, 2011 and a delay in receiving authority to market electricity in Pennsylvania would have severe consequences to our business, as energy prices have been on the rise.  We feel that because we do not take possession of the commodity and are simply consultants that recommend which Electric Generation Supplier to buy from, when to buy and which product, that the PA PUC should be able to determine REA's ability to serve the Pennsylvania market within the 45 days outlined in 52 PA Code §54.37(b)," Rosenthal Energy Advisors said.
