Border Energy Electric Services Seeks Ohio Supplier License
Border Energy Electric Services, Inc. applied for an Ohio electric supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, in all service areas.  As only noted in Matters, affiliate Border Energy, Inc. recently obtained an Ohio electric license, and, when it did so, it described its market plans as initially brokering but then later moving to physical load service and supply (see 7/12).  Border Energy, Inc. anticipated that it would grow its electric customer brokerage business over time to be large enough to justify the increased costs of operating as a supplier, but says that this threshold was reached sooner than anticipated.  The new entity of Border Energy Electric Services will handle such electric load service and supply, and Border Energy, Inc. (which also supplies about 30,000 gas customers) will continue to operate separately.  Border Energy Electric Services, Inc. does not anticipate entering any other electric markets aside from Ohio at this time.

Clearview Electric Receives Maryland Electric License
The Maryland PSC granted Clearview Electric, Inc. an electric supplier license to serve residential and commercial customers in all service areas.  The Commission was convinced that Clearview has adequately addressed unauthorized switching complaints experienced in Connecticut last year, but Commissioner Lawrence Brenner, speaking only for himself, said that he will not grant Clearview any leeway if such complaints arise in Maryland.

Conn. Draft would Grant Electric License to HOP Energy
A draft Connecticut DPUC decision would grant HOP Energy, LLC an electric supplier license to serve residential, commercial and industrial customers.  HOP Energy is a fuel oil marketer expanding into electric supply, and as only noted in Matters, Stephen Fabiani, most recently Vice President and General Manager of New England operations for Pepco Energy Services, is leading HOP Energy's electric supply operations (7/22).

EnergyCruncher.com Receives D.C. Broker License
The District of Columbia PSC granted Energy Shopper, LLC, d/b/a EnergyCruncher.com, an electric broker license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers.

Ameresco Seeks Maine Broker License
Ameresco, Inc. applied for a Maine electric broker license to serve all sizes of non-residential customers in all service areas except Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative, Houlton Water Company, and Van Buren Power & Light.
