Border Energy Electric Services Seeks Ohio Supplier License
Border Energy Electric
Services, Inc. applied for an Ohio electric supplier license to serve all customer
classes, including residential customers, in all service areas. As only noted in
Matters, affiliate Border Energy, Inc. recently obtained an Ohio electric license,
and, when it did so, it described its market plans as initially brokering but then later moving to physical load service and supply (see 7/12). Border Energy, Inc. anticipated
that it would grow its electric customer brokerage business over time to be large
enough to justify the increased costs of operating as a supplier, but says that this
threshold was reached sooner than anticipated. The new entity of Border Energy Electric
Services will handle such electric load service and supply, and Border Energy, Inc.
(which also supplies about 30,000 gas customers) will continue to operate separately.
Border Energy Electric Services, Inc. does not anticipate entering any other electric
markets aside from Ohio at this time.

but Commissioner Lawrence Brenner, speaking only for himself, said that he will not
grant Clearview any leeway if such complaints arise in Maryland.
Conn. Draft would Grant Electric License to HOP Energy
A draft Connecticut DPUC decision

and industrial customers. HOP Energy is a fuel oil marketer expanding into electric
supply, and as only noted in Matters, Stephen Fabiani, most recently Vice President
and General Manager of New England operations for Pepco Energy Services, is leading
HOP Energy's electric supply operations (7/22).
