Illinois House Passes Tenaska Sourcing Agreement Bill
The Illinois House passed SB2485, the Tenaska Taylorville Energy Center sourcing agreement bill, by a vote of 63-50 late Tuesday.  The approval came after an earlier vote failed by two votes, with some representatives saying their affirmative vote on the second call was in exchange for support of legislation that would all but require gas utilities to purchase the output from a synthetic gas plant to be developed by Leucadia National Corp. in the Chicago area (utilities would risk distribution rate decreases if not purchasing gas from the plant).
 

ERCOT Files 4CP Information
ERCOT has filed in PUCT Docket 38900 its report on the monthly coincident peak loads in the ERCOT system for the months of June, July, August, and September 2010.  The 4CP dates for 2010 were June 21, July 16, August 23, and September 14, 2010.  The Report provides the load at the peak interval for each Distribution Service Provider.


FirstEnergy Solutions Extends ChamberChoice Program to West Penn Power
FirstEnergy Solutions has extended its discounted electric rate offers to ChamberChoice members in the West Penn Power (Allegheny) service area.  FirstEnergy Solutions is offering ChamberChoice small business members at Allegheny a fixed rate of 6.35¢/kWh through June 2013.  The offer is limited and ends December 10, 2010.  FirstEnergy Solutions said that over 3,200 customers at Penelec, PennPower, and Duquesne Light have enrolled through similar affinity programs.


Dawn Diaz Joins APPI Energy
APPI Energy announced that Dawn Diaz has joined APPI as a Senior Energy Advisor, managing APPI's Texas office near Arlington.


Schriber to Retire from PUCO
Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Chairman Alan Schriber announced yesterday that he will retire on December 31, 2010.  Schriber served as chairman for nearly 12 years, with a prior stint on PUCO as a Commissioner in the 1980s.  A nominating committee shall recommend a list of replacements to Governor-Elect John Kasich, R, who may select a chairman from the list or ask for a new set of nominees.
