November 19, 2010

The New York PSC approved without modification Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation's plan to expand mandatory hourly pricing to non-shopping S.C. No. 2 customers with demand greater than 300 kW in any two months during the twelve months ended June 30, 2010 (09-E-0588).

Under the plan first reported by Matters (8/18), Central Hudson will begin hourly pricing for affected S.C. No. 2 customers on October 1, 2012.  This timeline will provide customers with a year of hourly data prior to implementation of hourly pricing.

As of June 2010, 164 S.C. No. 2 customers have a demand between 300 kW and 500 kW, the cutoff under the prior expansion of hourly pricing.  Expansion of hourly pricing for customers with demand exceeding 500 kW and less than 1 MW was previously approved to begin in October 2011.

Central Hudson reported that as of June 2010, 90 of the 164 customers subject to the latest hourly pricing expansion were being served by an ESCO.

As part of Central Hudson's seminars to educate customers about hourly pricing, Central Hudson will offer an expo-style format to allow customers to discuss supply options with ESCOs.
