FirstEnergy Solutions Stepping Up Michigan Marketing to Position Customers in Load
Cap Queue
Email This Story
October 11, 2010
FirstEnergy Solutions has launched a marketing
effort in Michigan to sign customers and place customers into the current queue to
switch to retail access.
There is no room under the current retail access load cap at Detroit Edison and Consumers Energy, but several pieces of legislation have been proposed to either raise the cap to 25%, or provide certain customers (such as schools) an exemption from the cap.
FirstEnergy Solutions' efforts are aimed at positioning itself should the market dynamic change in Michigan, and also ensure priority for its customers by getting them in the queue now.
At Detroit Edison, load currently in the queue represents about 1% of total distribution system retail sales (803 enrollments). At Consumers, the amount of load in the queue is nearly 3% of total distribution sales (1340 customers).
