Nearly 80% of Michigan Customers Support Electric Choice, Poll Shows
Email This Story

Some 79% of Michigan residents said that homeowners and businesses should
be able to select their electric company, just as they choose their telecommunications
and natural gas providers, according to a recent poll by Marketing Resource Group.
The Marketing Resource Group Michigan poll is an omnibus statewide poll of Michigan voters focusing on various issues in the news. The poll surveyed a random sample of 600 likely voters from September 14 through 19, with a margin of error of ±4 percent, using a confidence level of 95 percent.
"Unlike businesses regionally and nationally, Michigan businesses have not seen any of the benefits felt by the national drop in wholesale electric rates," said Tommy Brann, owner of Brann's Sizzlin' Steaks and Sports Grille and a member of the Electric Competition for Michigan Now! coalition. "In fact, our utility bills have spiked over the last 24 months. The current monopoly system in Michigan is hurting our businesses and hurting job creation," Brann said.
